Annual Dinner & Presentation Evening 2011

The 109th Annual Dinner Dance and Prize Presentation Held for the first time at Mitton Hall, Mitton, Whalley, and ironically the former home of the Birtwistle family, cotton magnates and founder members of the club.

Over ninety members and guests were treated to a superb meal on circular tables dotted around the dance floor and lit by silver candelabras.

Chris Lee and Martyn Wylie prepared a great photo display in the bar giving a brief insight into the clubs motoring activities throughout the previous year, and the presentation of trophies was undertaken by Chris Lee (no microphone required!) The recipients all said a few words, but being quietly spoken did need the microphone!!

The Reverend Barry Whitehead was presented with the Peter Collins Trophy, John Wadsworth with the Wood Trophy, Carolyn Taylor with the Attwood Trophy and the Jaguar Trophy to Kay Hopkinson. In the Sprint Championship the winner was Craig Powers, second John Moxham and third Derek Martlew.

Annual Dinner & Presentation Evening 2009

This year we had a change of venue for our Annual Dinner Dance and Prize Presentation and our new venue was The Moorcock Hotel above Waddington.

As instructed on their tickets members and guests started to arrive around about 7.00 pm. and were greeted with roaring open fire as they sat down to pre dinner drinks in what was a very cosy atmosphere.

Around 7.45 pm we were called by our MC for the evening Mr. Chris Lee, to take our seats for dinner. After all were seated grace was offered by our “Flying Vicar” the Rev. Barry Whitehead ably assisted by his daughter Eve. Everyone now enjoyed a very tasty three course meal, which all at our table thoroughly enjoyed. There now followed a presentation of a magnificent bouquet of flowers to Carolyn Taylor for all the effort and hard work she puts in year after year, together with her husband Anthony, arranging our Annual Dinner Dance and Awards Evening.

A very heartfelt thanks to you both from all our members and guests for a magnificent evening once again.

Following the Loyal toast proposed by Mr. “Ted” Heath there followed a draw for the raffle with numerous magnificent prizes, after which the DJ struck up and some of our members and guests did some very energetic dancing. My party retired to sit by the open fire in the bar area and enjoyed a few drinks. Around 11.30 pm various guests began to depart having enjoyed another very successful evening and our thanks must go to Carolyn Taylor, for all her efforts and hard work. Hope to see you all again next year. Editor
